Pixel art is a form of digital art, where images are created using small pixels. Pixel art can be used to create illustrations, logos, or even complex scenes. In this tutorial, we will be creating a pixel art tree.
We will start by drawing the outline of the tree. Then, we will fill in the details with smaller pixels. Once we have the basic shape of the tree, we will add some leaves and branches. Finally, we will add a background and color in our tree.
Pixel art is a fun and easy way to get started with digital art. With a little practice, you’ll be able to create your own pixel art masterpieces!
What You’ll Need
-A sheet of graph paper
-A thin black marker
-A thicker black marker
-A ruler or a straight edge
-Green construction paper
-A light source (optional)
Making the Tree Trunk
To make the tree trunk, start by making a square. Then, using a dark brown color, fill in the square. Once the dark brown color is filled in, take a lighter brown color and add some highlights to give the trunk some texture.
Adding the Leaves
Now that the tree trunk is complete, it’s time to add some leaves! For this part of the tutorial, we’ll be using a leaf template. You can find the template at the end of this tutorial.
Print out the leaf template or draw your own leaves on a piece of paper. Cut out the leaves.
Pixel art is all about being precise, so we’re going to use a slightly different approach for adding the leaves to our tree. Instead of holding down the mouse button and drawing, we’re going to click once for each “pixel” or “dot” in our design.
Start by selecting the green color from the palette. Then, zoom in on the tree trunk so that you can see each individual pixel.
Position your cursor at the top of the tree trunk and click once. Move your cursor over one pixel and click again. Repeat this process until you reach the bottom of the tree trunk.
Now it’s time to add some branches! For this part of the tutorial, we’ll be using a branch template. You can find the template at the end of this tutorial.
Print out the branch template or draw your own branches on a piece of paper. Cut out the branches.
Position your cursor at the top of the tree trunk and click once. Move your cursor over one pixel and click again. Repeat this process until you reach the bottom of the tree trunk
Adding the branches
To add the branches, start by picking a color for the leaves. We’re using green, but you can use any color you like. Using the color picker, click on the leaves to get the right shade of green.
With the branches layer selected, click on the “Edit” menu and choose “Fill Pixels.” A dialog box will appear. In the “Blend Mode” drop-down menu, choose “Multiply.” This will allow the color of the leaves to show through the branches.
In the “Tolerance” field, enter a value of 50. This will make sure that only pixels that are similar to the ones you’ve clicked on will be filled in.
Click on the image to fill in the pixels. You may need to zoom in on the image to get a better view. Use the eyedropper tool to select different shades of green and fill in more pixels.
Adding the roots
Now that you have the leaves and trunk of your tree complete, it’s time to add the roots. Starting at the bottom of the tree, use the dark brown color to add a small “U” shape. This will be the start of your roots. Once you have the first part of the roots in place, continue using the dark brown color to fill them in, making them as wide or narrow as you like. Once you’re happy with the way your roots look, move on to adding the next layer of leaves.
Now that you have the basic tree shape down, you can add some final touches to make it look more realistic. Start by adding a few branches coming off of the main trunk. You can make these thinner or thicker, depending on how you want your tree to look.
Next, add some leaves to the branches. You can either use green pixels or brown pixels, depending on the type of tree you want to create. Experiment with different leaf shapes and sizes to create a unique tree.
Finally, add a pixel or two of color to the trunk and branches to give them some dimension and depth. Black and white pixels work well for this, but feel free to experiment with other colors as well.
Pixel Art Tree Template
If you love pixel art and trees, then this pixel art tree template is perfect for you! This tutorial will show you how to make a pixel art tree that can be used as a template for any number of different designs. You can use this tree template to make a simple design, or you can get creative and add your own personal touch. Either way, you’re sure to end up with a beautiful pixel art tree that you can be proud of!
Tips and Tricks
Here are some tips and tricks to help you make the perfect pixel art tree:
– start by creating a sketch of your tree. This will help you map out the placement of your pixels and ensure that your tree is symmetrical.
– use light colors for the leaves and dark colors for the trunk. This will help create depth and dimension in your pixel art.
– experiment with different color combinations. You may want to use a green and brown palette for a traditional look, or try something more unique like pink and purple.
– when adding pixels to the leaves, use a brush size that is smaller than the size of the leaves. This will help create a more realistic effect.
– add shadows to your tree by using darker pixels around the edges of the leaves. This will give your tree a three-dimensional look.
In conclusion, making a pixel art tree is a fun and easy way to spend an afternoon. With a little bit of planning and a lot of patience, you can create a beautiful work of art that you can be proud of.
